This holiday season we will distribute over 250 gifts to the homeless in our beautiful city of Charlotte.  In the past, Queen City Unity has worked alongside other organizations in the community to make donations easily accessible to the public. Most recently, our Donation Pick Up Program collected over 10,000 pounds of clothes from donors’ doorsteps, to benefit over 500 children in foster care in the Queen City. This holiday season we shift our focus to those who are most in need.

“There is a certain joy that comes from opening up a gift during the holidays. We want to make sure that we share that joy with those who are home insecure in Charlotte, while providing them with the essential items that they need to get by,” said Jensen Nichol, Co-Founder of Queen City Unity.

The ‘Holidays of Unity Drive’ will run from November 20th – December 15th. We will be collecting items at drop off locations and through ourDonation Pick Up Program. The items will go in a gift wrapped box that will be distributed to those in shelters and the homeless in on the streets of Uptown Charlotte.

Here is the list of items that we will be collecting:

  • Socks, gloves, scarves and winter hats

  • Toothpaste and toothbrush

  • Women’s hygiene products

  • Soap

  • Thermal containers

  • Cologne/Perfume/Body Spray

Each gift will include a handwritten note from children from all across Charlotte. The foundation is hosting an event on Saturday, December 16th to gift wrap the presents, and allow the youth to write their hope notes to the homeless. The event will be open to the public and more details will be available shortly.

“Our organization’s mission statement is to bring people together of all races, religions, genders, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status; in order to create unity in the Queen City of Charlotte.” Nichol said. “We accomplish this by helping other nonprofits, hosting community events that promote diversity and inclusion, and helping those in need in our community. Homelessness can occur to anyone, regardless of your background or lifestyle. We are looking forward to sharing the joy of the holidays with those who struggle on a daily basis, and who are often forgotten by most.”

We will be distributing the holiday gifts on Sunday, December 17th across multiple shelters in Charlotte and on the streets of Uptown Charlotte.
